  • I'd call assault weapons and grappling hooks pretty solid circumstantial evidence that they were pirates and intended to assault a ship. I hope the Brits confiscated the extra fuel as well as the weapons before they set them free.

  • Those opposed to arming merchant ships keep saying that doing so would cause an escalation in force by the pirates and that they would start killing people instead of merely holding them for ransom. That is a risk.
